MN Quants is a non-profit student organization that provides an environment for members to work on Financial Technology related projects including data, software and infrastructure engineering, and quantitative analysis to answer financial market questions involving risk, portfolio management, and trading. The students in this organization are increasingly working with industry to collaborate on projects.
A team of four MFM students in MN Quants is an example of this trend. Using C# they built an application based on some needs Cargill had related to monitoring trade details. The team built a dashboard charting volume and trade details from three major repositories of Over-The Counter derivatives on a real time basis. Cargill Risk Management’s senior management team was pleased with the results and commissioned the team to complete integration into Cargill’s system.
